| Schools reorganisation parents evening - Matt Ostler - 14/1/2009
|
On January the 8th around 30 parents attended a meeting with the Head teacher, the governors and Keith Simmonds, a senior officer for the council involved in the schools reorganisation. There was plenty postive, energetic and intense discussion based around some probing and insightful questions from the parents present. A clear understanding was established that the position of the council has not changed in the sense that it is the original reccomendations that it is presenting to the independant panel. These reccomendations were for Nettlestone Primary to remain open and become a one form entry, Reception through to Year 6 Primary school. Outcomes from the meeting were the following: A) The approach the School wants to take is 'how much we love our school and why'......all positive.....all about Nettelstone Primary School......all about education. B) Between now and the independant panel arriving a parents group would form to that would meet the panel and represent the view of all parents to the panel. C) All possible channels of communcation would be used to allow parents to communicate their view, including letter, questionaire, dialouge with governors, and e-mail / blog. The meeting ended with parents feeling very proactive and ready to present Nettlestone Primary to the panel for what it is: an outstanding school endorsed by it parents and commited to high quality education for now and the future.
